A Sunday drive ended with a speeding ticket for dozens of drivers on Highway 417 in Ottawa. Ontario Provincial Police conducted a speeding enforcement blitz on Hwy. 417 on Sunday. OPP Const. Michael Fathi said 48 drivers were charged for speeding, including seven for stunt driving. “Just because the temperatures are rising doesn’t mean your speeds should,” Fathi said. One driver was stopped going 166 km/h on Highway 417, while another driver was observed going 158 km/h. The speed limit on Hwy. 417 is 100 km/h. The Ontario government is increasing the speed limit on Hwy. 417 in Ottawa to 110 km/h in August. “Ottawa OPP reminds motorists that with the speed limit set to increase to 110 km/h on Hwy. 417 in August, our members will still be out there, ensuring motorists drive within the speed limit,” Fathi said.
