Scammers ask for donations, posing as London Fire Department

The London Fire Department is warning the public of a scam in the community.

Londoners are receiving phone calls claiming to be from the fire department. The callers are asking for monetary donations, claiming to be the London Fire Department.

The department says they would never ask the public for donations, and to hang up the calls immediately.

For those who’ve donated money thinking it was for the fire department, contact London Police.

Community members are urged to never share personal information of send any money when receiving a call of this nature. Those who’d like to report a fraudulent call can contact the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.
