A southern Ontario man has been fined $1,500 for a deer hunting violation on Manitoulin Island, the Ministry of Natural Resources announced this week. Angelo Micone of Beeton pleaded guilty earlier this year to failing to immediately invalidate his antlerless deer tag. “On Nov. 20, 2025, conservation officers were patrolling the Township of Burpee and Mills on Manitoulin Island when they encountered Micone at his group’s hunt camp,” the MNR said in a news release Sept. 2. An investigation revealed that Micone shot an antlerless deer Nov. 17, 2025, but “failed to immediately invalidate his tag when harvesting the deer.” “Micone processed the deer and continued to hunt deer throughout the week without invalidating his antlerless deer tag,” the MNR said. “The deer was seized and donated to a local Indigenous community. Justice of the Peace Lori-Ann Toulouse heard the case in the Ontario Court of Justice in Gore Bay on Feb. 19.
