Woman accused of impaired driving for following too closely, honking horn and colliding with another vehicle

A Guelph woman has been accused of getting behind the wheel with more than three times the legal amount of alcohol in her system.

Guelph Police Service officers were called to Scottsdale Drive near Stone Road West on Friday around 8 p.m. A man told them the woman has been tailgating him while honking her horn. He said he pulled over to let her pass, but she hit his vehicle.

When officers spoke to the woman, they said she seemed impaired. She failed a roadside breath test and was taken back to a police station where further testing suggested she had far exceeded the legal limit of alcohol in her system.

The 45-year-old woman was charged with impaired driving and dangerous driving. Her licence was suspended for 90 days and her vehicle was impounded for seven days.
