Six people charged with trafficking, $266K in drugs seized, in multi-city drug bust

Stratford Police say six people have been arrested, and one is still wanted, for a drug trafficking investigation dubbed Project Sapphire.

Search warrants were carried out in December at properties in St. Marys, Woodstock and London, as well as additional locations in London and Stratford this month.

In total, the Street Crime Unit seized 90 grams of crack cocaine, 167 grams of methamphetamine and 2,473 grams of cocaine.

Stratford Police said the estimated street value was $266,000.

They also found approximately $91,000 in cash.

Six people were arrested.

In December, a 37-year-old man was charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, while a 52-year-old woman was charged with one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Following the searches in March, a 32-year-old man was charged with 12 counts of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime. A 33-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman were also charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime, while a 48-year-old man was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and weapons offences.

Police said a search warrant will be issued for a seventh person. The 30-year-old, who was not named in the media release, was expected to be charged with four counts of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime.

Stratford Police said Project Sapphire was a collaboration between multiple policing agencies, including the Woodstock Police Service, London Police Service and Criminal Intelligence Service Ontario.
