A B.C. waterpark where 12 kids on a field trip were injured in an electrical incident is “targeting” a July reopening. Cultus Lake Waterpark posted a statement to its website saying the goal is for the shuttered facility to open its doors again some time in the latter half of next month. While the park is closed, all ticket sales have been suspended and refunds are being issued. “We appreciate your patience and understanding as we complete the remaining inspections, repairs, and receive regulatory approvals,” the statement said. Meanwhile, the provincial watchdog leading the probe into the incident said there is no timeline for reopening and that work is ongoing to “resolve non-compliances” that have been identified. “Technical Safety B.C. safety officers are ready to conduct follow-up inspections as soon as the necessary repairs are complete,” a statement from the agency said, adding a “shutdown order” remained in effect as of June 29. No information about the findings of the investigation or the nature of the non-compliances is being released at this time. The incident occurred on June 15 while kids were waiting in line for a ride. One of the middle-school students’ parents said his daughter suffered an electrical burn when she made contact with a metal railing. The injured students were taken to hospital by air and ground ambulances.
