Second suspect arrested for Cambridge ice cream theft

A second person has been charged for the big ice cream theft at L.A. Frank’s in Cambridge, Ont.

Owner Russ Thomas told CTV News someone broke into the eatery’s storage shed on May 3 and made off with between 25 and 30 tubs of ice cream. They also took pop, water, oil and some of small equipment from the shop.

Waterloo Regional Police said the ice cream and soda was worth about $1,600, while damage to the Water Street North property was pegged at $500.

A 38-year-old man from Cambridge was the first suspect to be arrested. He was charged with break and enter, theft under $5,000, mischief under $5,000 and failure to comply with a judicial order.

An arrest warrant was also issued for another Cambridge man.

Police said they arrested the 45-year-old on June 3. He was charged with disguise with intent, break and enter, three counts of theft under $5,000, mischief under $5,000, three counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and failure to comply with a judicial order.

Police are still looking for a third suspect who was only described as a white male. At the time of the theft, he wore a dark jacket with white trim around the neck and bottom hem, military-style pants and a dark-coloured toque with a white crest on it.
