Two people arrested in connection with a fatal stabbing in Whitney Pier, N.S., have now been charged with second-degree murder. Cape Breton Regional Police say 29-year-old Pavel Benjamin Peck and 32-year-old Vernon Gregory Peck, both of Wagmatcook, are due in Sydney provincial court Thursday afternoon. Police say they knew the victim, identified as 39-year-old Terrance Campbell of Sydney, and they are treating his murder as an isolated incident. Police responded to the stabbing on Frederick Street around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday. They found Campbell with life-threatening stab wounds at the scene. He was taken to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, where he later died. A suspect vehicle was seen leaving the area. Officers followed it on the South Bar Highway towards New Waterford but eventually stopped pursuing the vehicle due to safety concerns. With assistance from the RCMP in Baddeck and Eskasoni, police managed to stop the vehicle on Highway 223 near Orangedale around 1 p.m. and arrested the two men inside.
