Hamilton Police have launched a new online reporting option for incidents of human trafficking, aimed at improving safety and accessibility for victims. In a news release, the Hamilton Police Service said the tool is designed for individuals who may not feel safe or able to attend a police station in person. Police say victims of human trafficking often face significant barriers when seeking help. The online reporting option is intended to provide a discreet and secure alternative while allowing investigators to begin gathering information and connecting individuals with supports and resources. “The Hamilton Police Service recognizes the complex and sensitive nature of human trafficking and is committed to ensuring victims are supported with compassion, dignity and respect,” police said in a media release. “This reporting option allows individuals to come forward when they are ready, while still enabling police to begin an investigation and connect victims with appropriate supports and resources.” Anyone experiencing or aware of human trafficking is encouraged to use the online reporting tool through the Hamilton Police Service website or contact police if it is safe to do so. In an emergency, members of the public should call 911. Those seeking support but not ready to file a report can contact Hamilton Police Victim Services at 905-546-4904.
