Cat who was found tied up in a bag now ready for adoption

A cat who was tied up in a bag and endured multiple surgeries is now looking for a fresh start.

McNally the cat was first brought to the Cambridge and District Humane Society after he was found tied up and abandoned in a reusable bag along a trail on April 30.

He was taken to the Kitchener South Animal Hospital with multiple puncture wounds, severe abdominal trauma, fluid build-up, anemia and very high Alanine Aminotransferase (ALT) levels, which can indicate high stress on the animal’s liver or internal bleeding.

On May 13, the Humane Society said McNally had been through two surgeries and “countless pokes and stitches,” but they said he was showing nothing but sweetness and resilience.

“He loves cuddles, snuggles, and anything filled with catnip. Every day, his personality shines a little brighter, and we’re so grateful to everyone cheering him on and helping him heal,” a social media post from the Humane Society said.

On Wednesday, the Humane Society listed McNally as ready for adoption. They said he would do best in a quiet, adult-only home with no dogs and no other cats.

PAWS, the Provincial Animal Welfare Service, has been contacted about McNally’s case. They will be handling the investigation.
