With Canada’s historic showing in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, many Canadians are feeling extra patriotic heading into the country’s 159th birthday this Wednesday. Here are some of the ways you can celebrate Canada Day across Metro Vancouver—including at a number of venues with World Cup viewing areas. Vancouver Canada Together 2026 marks the 40th anniversary of the celebration that describes itself as the biggest of its kind outside of Ottawa. The free event runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Canada Place and features a citizenship ceremony, live music across multiple stages, an Expo 86 exhibit, food trucks and an Indigenous marketplace. Surrey The City of Surrey’s Canada Day celebration runs from 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. at the Bill Reid Millennium Amphitheatre in Cloverdale. Programming for the day includes live music on four stages, carnival rides, a beer garden, food trucks, children’s activities, and an Indigenous village. Canadian country star Josh Ross is the headliner on the main stage, set to perform at 9 p.m. The event ends with fireworks at 10:15 p.m. Burnaby The city is putting on three events across three venues. From 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Edmonds Plaza and Park will offer live performances, activities for kids, celebratory slices of cake, and a Zumba class. The Burnaby Village Museum, which opens at 11 a.m. and closes at 4:30 p.m. is offering kid-friendly activities like free face painting, as well as live performances and interactive displays and demonstrations. StreetFest on Central starts at 6:30 p.m. bringing a range of free and fun ways to celebrate to Civic Square and Central Park—ending with a fireworks show at 10:15 p.m. Richmond Steveston Village’s Salmon Festival returns with a Canada Day kickoff—starting with a kids’ bike parade at 9:30 a.m. That will be followed up with a larger parade featuring floats and classic cars. Live performances, a salmon bake, a Japanese cultural show and a youth zone are some of the other things people can enjoy throughout the day—with the festivities wrapping up at 5 p.m. New Westminster A celebration in Queen’s Park will kick off with the national anthem at 2 p.m. and end with a drone show at 10 p.m. Performances include live bands, DJs, and an interactive limbo performance. There will also be bubble soccer at the sportsplex, some lower-key classical music in the rose garden, and a dedicated kids zone. The Tri-Cities Coquitlam’s Canada Day event runs from noon to 10:30 p.m. in Town Centre Park. Live performances on two stages include bhangra and swing dancers, an a cappella quintet, DJs, and rock bands. Fireworks start at 10 p.m. Celebrations in Port Coquitlam start off with a pancake breakfast and fishing derby for early risers. The main event at Castle Park kicks off at 1 p.m. and closes with a fireworks finale at 10:15 p.m. A beverage garden will showcase local craft beers and cocktails and small businesses will also be featured in the food offerings. April Wine, who the event website describes as “one of Canada’s most iconic rock bands,” will perform at 7:05 p.m. Port Moody’s Rocky Point Park is hosting the city’s Canada Day event from noon to 5 p.m. A welcome from the local First Nation and a community celebration of diversity will be interspersed with music ranging from a singer-songwriter to a “tropical rock” band. North Shore The City of North Vancouver is once again hosting a Canada Day celebration at The Shipyards—but warns visitors to expect “larger crowds, heavier traffic and increased noise” this year. That’s because on top of the Rotary Club of Lions Gate’s annual Canada Day event (running from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.), The Shipyards will remain home to Canada Soccer House, a free FIFA World Cup viewing area. Organizers recommend attendees walk, cycle or bus to the events. Neighbouring West Vancouver will be hosting an event as well, in John Lawson park from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., featuring “sweet treats, live music and fun activities” for both children and adults. Maple Ridge There will be a Canada Day event in Memorial Peace Park from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. Organizers say the event features live performances, family activities, food trucks, a licensed drinking area—plus FIFA World Cup “viewing festivities.” Pitt Meadows In neighbouring Pitt Meadows, the city is hosting an event at šxʷhék̓ʷnəs (Spirit Square) from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., with a live entertainment, a pancake breakfast, artisans, a dog show and a watermelon eating contest, among other activities. The event also promises “lots of soccer-themed fun.” Delta Delta’s Great Big Birthday Bash Celebrating Canada is set for Chambers Park with a giant flag mural and massive birthday cake feature among plans for the “larger-than-life” party. A pickleball showdown, a water fight, bingo, and three different eating contests are among the activities planned. Live performances, a fundraising barbecue and fireworks after dark round out the day. The event runs from 4 to 10 p.m. White Rock The City of White Rock will once again host fireworks as part of its free Canada Day by the Bay event at Memorial Park and West Beach. The all-ages celebration runs from noon to 10:30 p.m., and includes live performances—including by Bon Jovi tribute band Bad Medicine—and the fireworks are scheduled to begin at 10:15 p.m. The Langleys New this year at Langley Township’s annual Canada Day event is a fireworks display—with a soundtrack that can be listened to via live speakers or through the Pryocast app. The celebration, running from 12 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., will also have live entertainment, a K-Pop dance, food trucks, mini golf, bouncy castles and other activities. The City of Langley is hosting a party beginning at noon with a charity barbecue, bouncy castle, a beer garden and live music from Sons of Stanley. Organizers ask that attendees RSVP, and recommend that they bring their own chairs if possible.
