Alberta RCMP have issued a warrant for the arrest of a man who operated a travel agency in Fort McMurray for what they say is about $500,000 worth of fraud. Ujeer Ahmed, 58, faces fraud and money laundering charges in connection with reports of fake services offered by a travel agency he owned in 2019 called International Travel Services. Police say more than 100 victims paid for flights, hotels and other travel accommodations, then made the trip only to discover reservations were never made. Ahmed is accused of taking payment for the arrangements and then not following through with airlines or vacation destinations. Wood Buffalo Mounties say the combined loss amounts to nearly $500,000. Police aren’t able to locate Ahmed as he no longer lives in Fort McMurray. A warrant has been issued for his arrest.
