Two Greater Toronto Area men are facing multiple charges after a drug trafficking investigation in Sarnia led to the seizure of cocaine, methamphetamine, cash and a concealed knife, police said. The Sarnia Police Service said its Emergency Response Team, Canine Unit and Drug Unit were investigating a vehicle occupied by two men at about 7:50 p.m. on June 29. Police alleged the men were in possession of controlled substances for the purpose of trafficking. As officers moved in to arrest the suspects, police said the vehicle attempted to flee, reversing into a police cruiser and causing significant front-end damage. Both suspects then got out of the vehicle and ran, police said. Officers pursued the pair on foot and both allegedly resisted arrest before being taken into custody. Police said the investigation resulted in the seizure of three oxycodone pills, 11.52 grams of cocaine and 30.34 grams of crystal methamphetamine. Officers also seized several cellphones, drug packaging materials, $5,720 in cash and a black Husky folding knife that was allegedly concealed on one of the suspects. A 26-year-old North York man has been charged with two counts of possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, resisting arrest and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000. A 25-year-old Ajax man has been charged with two counts of possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, resisting arrest, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and carrying a concealed weapon. Both accused were held in custody pending bail hearings. The charges have not been proven in court.
