Cambridge man charged in crash that ‘could have been disastrous’

The Ontario Provincial Police have charged a Cambridge man for a crash between a dump truck and a trailer.

Officers from the Burlington detachment were called to the corner of Highway 5 and Brock Road, northwest of Hamilton, around 8:15 a.m. Monday. They said a dump truck had collided with a trailer that was being towed by a pickup truck. The trailer then burst into flames.

The 36-year-old man who was driving the pickup truck was taken to hospital as a precaution while the driver of the dump truck, a 55-year-old man from Cambridge, was not hurt.

“This collision could have been disastrous,” the OPP wrote in a social media statement.

The Cambridge man was charged with a red light offence.
