Longueuil firefighters are responding to two brush fires that broke out near the Montreal Metropolitan Airport on the South Shore of Montreal Monday afternoon. Firefighters responded to calls regarding the fires around 4 p.m. The first fire occurred on Rue de l’Aéroport and is currently under control, but the Longueuil fire department says they are still searching for any hidden hot spots. However, firefighters are still working to put out the second fire at the intersection of Rue Desautels and Highway 115. There are no reported injuries or damages. “The fire on the road to the airport stretched about one kilometre,” a media spokesperson for the fire department told CTV News. “The second brush fire is still there.” Rue de l’Aéroport is closed between Boulevard Clairevue and Chemin de la Savane. According to the fire department, 20 firefighters were on the scene of the fire near the airport. At the second fire near Highway 115, 10 firefighters are working to contain it Longueuil firefighters say they can’t confirm the cause yet.
