More local pharmacies to offer COVID-19 vaccines From CTV Kitchener: More pharmacies in Waterloo Region will soon be able to offer residents COVID-19 vaccines.

KITCHENER — There will soon be 64 new pharmacies that residents of Waterloo Region and Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph can go to for their COVID-19 vaccination.

The Ontario government announced on Sunday that COVID-19 vaccines will be coming to over 700 more pharmacy locations across the province.

These pharmacies will continue offering the AstraZeneca vaccine to people aged 55 and older.

The province now has more than 1,400 pharmacy locations offering the vaccine, and that number is expected to reach approximately 1,500 by the end of April, officials said.

Of the 707 new Ontario locations announced, 41 are in Waterloo Region and 23 are in Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph.

These newly announced pharmacies will soon join the 22 in the areas already booking COVID-19 vaccination appointments. However, the province says the new locations will not start booking at the same time and will only be added to the provincial database once they begin taking appointments.

Officials add that the vaccine is coming to pharmacies in hot spot communities to help increase access for populations most affected by the COVID-19 pandemic so far.
