The world’s best hockey player will be a game-time decision for the Edmonton Oilers, who are facing National Hockey League playoff elimination, on Tuesday night.

Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch said he hasn’t yet decided if Connor McDavid, this season’s NHL leading scorer and a three-time most-valuable player, will be in the lineup for Game 5 against the Anaheim Ducks at Rogers Place.

McDavid, who didn’t take part in Tuesday’s morning skate before the 8 p.m. game, appeared to injure his right leg early in the series.

Whether Jason Dickinson suits up for Edmonton Tuesday night, too, will be decided just before the game, Knoblauch said. Dickinson, the shutdown specialist who centres the team’s third line, missed games 2 and 3 of the series with an injury.

The Ducks lead the best-of-seven, first-round series with the Oilers three games to one. They’ve won the last three games, including Sunday’s Game 4 in Anaheim, 4-3 in overtime.

McDavid has played in all four games this post-season, scoring a goal and three assists for four points. The 29-year-old superstar played in all 82 Oilers regular-season games this campaign, scoring 48 goals and 90 assists for 138 points to win the Art Ross Trophy as NHL leading scorer for a sixth time in his 11-year pro career.
