Fundraiser sees thousands of stuffed animals thrown on ice at Oil Kings games

The Edmonton Oil Kings say 16,303 teddy bears hit the ice at Rogers Place for the team's 18th annual Teddy Bear Toss for children in need.

Sunday’s Oil Kings game saw thousands of donated stuffed animals thrown on the ice for Santas Anonymous.

Forward Joe Iginla scored in the second period prompting fans to partake in the Teddy Bear Toss.

The 16,303 toys collected, along with net proceeds from the Oil Kings specialty jersey auction went to support 800 CHED Santas Anonymous which helps deliver toys to kids in need across Edmonton during the holidays.

Since the Teddy Bear Toss started in 2007, more than 177,000 stuffed animals have been donated by fans.
