Malls busy with last minute shoppers

The city launched a campaign called #SupportLocalYYC to support local businesses during the holiday season.

Calgary shoppers were making the most of the warm weather on Tuesday to pop out a pick up last minute gifts and groceries for Christmas.

The malls were packed with people early and most are open late to accommodate those who have yet to finish up their Christmas shopping.

Shoppers at Chinook Centre say the crowds weren’t too bad.

“I’m actually a day early,” said one man “Just a couple of things, my wife’s bought most of the presents.”

“Procrastinating. It’s Christmas so lots of stuff going on and it’s kind of the last thing on my list so,” said another shopper.

“They’ve been very busy, I don’t come down to the malls a lot but they have been busy,” said another lady.

Most of the major malls are open on Tuesday until 9:00 p.m. and from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 or 6:00 p.m. on December 24.
