How much gas prices went down overnight in the Maritimes

CTV Atlantic's Amanda Debison says Maritimers are paying less for gas Friday morning, but more for diesel.

The price of gas decreased overnight across the Maritimes while the price of diesel increased.

Nova Scotia

The price of regular self-serve gasoline decreased by 3.4 cents in the Halifax area. The minimum price is now 192.8 cents per litre.

Diesel prices increased by two cents, bringing the minimum price to 218.1 cents per litre.

The new minimum price of regular self-serve gasoline in Cape Breton is 194.7 cents per litre while the minimum price of diesel is 220.1 cents per litre.

The Nova Scotia Energy Board said it would use the interrupter mechanism to adjust the price of all grades of gasoline in the province at 12:01 a.m. on Saturday.

The board cited “significant shifts in the market prices” as the reason for the adjustment.

Prince Edward Island

On P.E.I., the price of regular self-serve gasoline decreased by 2.3 cents. The new minimum price is 201.7 cents per litre.

The price of diesel increased by 7.5 cents. The minimum price is now 236.8 cents per litre.

New Brunswick

The price of regular self-serve gasoline decreased slightly in New Brunswick by 0.8 cents. The maximum price is now 201.3 cents per litre.

Diesel prices increased by two cents. The new maximum price in the province is 233.4 cents per litre.
