Festival season underway with Settler Days in Stirling, country music fest in Medicine Hat

Settler Days is underway in the village of Stirling, and the Quonset Days Country Music Festival kicks off in Medicine Hat Friday night.

Plenty more events for the celebration are planned for this weekend.

The annual summer festival is planned by the village and community events committee.

Events have been happening since Wednesday, with event more happening this weekend.

Friday night features bouncy castles, horse and wagon rides and a movie in the community centre.

Saturday will see the parade, car show, toonie swim and fireworks at 11 p.m. to wrap up the festival.

Settler Days isn’t the only festival happening this weekend.

The Quonset Days Country Music Festival kicks off in Medicine Hat Friday night.

This marks the 15th year the festival has been held.

As always, the festival is a fundraiser for ALS research.

Since 2009, more than $860,000 has been raised for the ALS Society of Alberta.

A free shuttle service is available from Medicine Hat to the site.
