10 things to do in Calgary this weekend

There are plenty of local events and activities to check out in Calgary this weekend.

Here’s a look at just 10 of the many amazing things happening around the city:

Calgary International Film Festival

• What: The Calgary International Film Festival returns for 2025 with features like Bif Naked, a documentary about the Canadian singer, and Lilith Fair: Building a Mystery, a documentary about the iconic music festival founded by Sarah McLachlan.
• When: Thursday, Sept. 18 to Sunday, Oct. 28, 2025.

Pumpkins After Dark

• What: Pumpkins After Dark lets visitors wander along a winging pathway of lit pumpkin sculptures and displays featuring thousands of hand-carved jack-o-lanterns.

Haunted Mini-Golf

• What: Calgarians are encouraged to dress up in a Halloween costume when taking a swing at WinSport’s Spooktacular Haunted Mini-Golf.

Dasha

• What: Upcoming American country singer Dasha performs at the Grey Eagle as part of her Welcome to Dashaville tour.

Stampeders vs. Lions

Halloweekends at Calaway Park

Distant Worlds: Music from Final Fantasy

• What: Music from Final Fantasy video games comes to life, thanks to the FILMharmonique Orchestra.

Echo by Cirque du Soleil

• What: Watch Cirque du Soleil perform Echo, a family friendly show that melds poetry, stagecraft, technology and acrobatics.

Made in Italy

• What: Made in Italy, performed by Farren Timoteo and directed by Daryl Cloran, returns to Calgary after a sold-out run in 2023. Timoteo brings more than 25 characters to life in the comedy about family, tradition and food.
