‘We’ll ski ’til we can’t’: Blue Mountain keeps lifts running into spring

Just when you thought it was time to pack up your skis and put away your winter gear, the team at Blue Mountain Resort said not so fast.

On Tuesday the popular Ontario ski destination announced that it will be extending its 2025/26 ski season into spring, keeping lifts running and slopes powdery for many eager to get in a few more runs.

“We’ll ski ’til we can’t,” said Dan Skelton, President and COO of Blue Mountain Resort, in a release.

After a wild winter that delivered 297 centimetres of natural snow, Blue Mountain officials said they are heading into April with solid coverage, consistent demand and advanced snowmaking capabilities.

The resort, located on the shores of Southern Georgian Bay, recorded more than 850 hours of snowmaking this season and opened two days ahead of schedule on Dec. 9, 2025.

Spring operations underway

While an official closing date has not yet been announced, the Blue Mountain team confirmed they will glide into a spring schedule beginning Wednesday.

Lifts will run daily from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. between April 1 and 12.

Starting April 13, operations will shift to only weekends, with slopes closed Monday through Thursday.

“We have a lot of work to do to get ready for our summer operations, which kick off as of the May long weekend, but we can manage that work during the week and still keep the slopes going into late April,” added Skelton.

Resort staff said they will continue to check conditions and demand before making any final decisions about the season’s closing.

“If skiers and riders keep coming out, we’re committed to going as long as we can for their season,” emphasized the team.
