Innisfil man threatens to use firearm, police discover replica

Police say a fight happened inside an establishment and one person said they had a firearm and threatened to use it.

South Simcoe police have charged a 45 year-old Innisfil man with possession of a weapon with dangerous purpose after an altercation on Sunday.

Police say the call for a disturbance came in from a licensed premise on Church Street shortly before 7 p.m.

The caller informed police of a physical altercation inside the premises, during which the accused allegedly threatened use a firearm.

South Simcoe police say they arrived on scene around 7:10 p.m. and located the suspect outside of the premises. During police’s investigation, he was found to allegedly be in possession of a replica firearm.

Police say the accused was also in contravention of an already existing firearms/weapons prohibition condition.

The man was additionally charged with failure to comply with undertaking and causing a disturbance. He is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on in late July.
