Environment Canada ends heat warning after four days of hot temperatures

Environment Canada has finally ended a heat warning after four days of steamy temperatures.

The weather authority issued the warning on Saturday, as most of the region saw daytime highs reaching nearly 40 C with the humidex and overnight lows around 20 C.

Meteorologists say daytime highs on Tuesday are expected to be below 31 C. Environment Canada predicts conditions will remain warm and humid and could bring about thunderstorms well into Thursday.

Heat related health risks are greatest for older adults, infants and young children and people with chronic illness. Meteorologists recommend people drink plenty of water to avoid illnesses like heat stroke or heat exhaustion.
