Provincial police are investigating a fatal crash in the Kawartha region Saturday evening that killed a teenage driver and seriously injured a passenger. According to the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP detachment, emergency crews were called to a two-vehicle crash just before 8:30 p.m. at County Road 49 and Burys Green Road in Bobcaygeon. Police say a 16-year-old female Bobcaygeon driver was pronounced dead on scene. A passenger in the other vehicle was airlifted by Ornge air ambulance with injuries that police described as ‘life-threatening.’ The other driver was reportedly uninjured. County Road 49 was closed for several hours between White Valley Rd. and Somerville 3rd Concession as investigators worked on the scene. The area reopened early Sunday morning.
