Another owl found in distress in Simcoe County

It’s the second time this week an owl has been found in distress in Simcoe County.

This time, a concerned resident in Creemore called the Simcoe County Emergency Animal Response on Wednesday about an owl that had been on their property for two days.

The team said when they arrived and located the owl, it didn’t show the usual signs of fear that wildlife typically has around humans.

Once the team had done their initial assessment, they found the signs the owl was showing indicated a wing injury.

The team quickly transported the creature to a licensed wildlife rehabilitation facility. From there it was brought into the care of a wildlife veterinarian for a more thorough examination.

The animal response team said the cause of injury is unknown but hopes with care and rehabilitation, the owl will get back out into the wild where it belongs.

The Simcoe County Emergency Animal says it’s grateful to the property owner for calling and encourages others to do the same if they are ever concerned about animals they see in the wild.
