A man and a woman are facing charges following a kidnapping in Bible Hill, N.S., Wednesday morning. The RCMP responded to a report that said a man and a woman abducted a man from a home in the 100 block of Vimy Road around 10:20 a.m. They were reportedly travelling in the Bible Hill area in a silver Hyundai Elantra. Officers saw the car on Hazel Drive about 30 minutes later, but lost sight of it as it drove along Pictou Road toward Main Street. Police say officers also observed a motorcycle at the Vimy Road property. Truro Police Service later saw the motorcycle travelling on Park Street in Bible Hill with two people on it at 11:10 a.m. Police say they stopped the motorcycle and the kidnapping victim was riding as a passenger. “It was learned the motorcycle driver had assisted the victim and was not involved in the kidnapping,” reads an RCMP news release. “The victim had minor injuries and was treated at the scene.” Police found the Elantra parked behind a home in the 200 block of Main Street in Bible Hill at 11:20 a.m. A man and a woman were arrested as they left the home just before 1 p.m. The man had injuries “consistent with a gunshot wound” that allegedly happened before police were involved. He was taken to hospital by EHS with life-threatening injuries. Stephen Joseph “Dakota” Maloney, 34, of Halifax and Macquel Lynn Weatherbee, 37, of Lantz, are both charged with kidnapping. Maloney is also charged with: Maloney was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Truro provincial court on Monday. Weatherbee was released. She has a scheduled court appearance on Aug. 19. Police say their investigation, including the circumstances surrounding Maloney’s gunshot wound, is ongoing.
