A 31-year-old Summerside man was arrested in New Brunswick for offences he allegedly committed during a home invasion in Prince Edward Island. Police say Brandon Allan Vance Butler was among three individuals who forced their way into a home in O’Leary, P.E.I., on Aug. 5 around 3 a.m. The three suspects allegedly assaulted one of the residents with baseball bats. Police responded to the home invasion and the victim was transported to hospital where they were treated for minor injuries. “The suspects fled the scene after stealing a vehicle. The vehicle was recovered a short distance away,” reads a news release from RCMP on Friday. Zachary Alfred Doucette, 29, of O’Leary was arrested, remanded into custody and charged with: A youth who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act was also arrested and charged with: Police later identified Butler as the third suspect after he fled the scene. Members of the RCMP Codiac Crime Reduction Unit found and arrested Butler in New Brunswick on Wednesday. He was brought back to P.E.I., remanded into custody and charged with: “Home invasions are violent and traumatic offences that have a significant impact on victims and communities,” says P.E.I. RCMP Chief Supt.
