The Flames preseason starts Sunday night against the Seattle Kraken. It also marks the kickoff of the Flames’ portion of the Saddledome’s farewell season. There are road closures on 14 Avenue, 5A Street and Stampede Trail for the next few months, while other roads will close intermittently. Flames fans will need to navigate around the construction happening on site. The Calgary Municipal Land Corporation (CMLC) says it’s been preparing for this for past couple of years, and it’s a bit of a balancing act, between what the fans and venues and construction crews need. “It really is about balancing the needs of the district in terms of getting people in for events-- not just the Saddledome but also BMO and other venues on Stampede Park,” said CMLC communications director Emma Stevens., “while also balancing the needs of the construction project and making sure that they able to deliver what they need to do deliver these great projects to Calgarians.” Visitors are urged to take transit if possible, or check for up to date information on the day of your visit.
