A Halifax man is facing charges after allegedly forcing children to drink alcohol inside a bathroom earlier this week. Halifax Regional Police (HRP) said on Thursday around 5:30 p.m., a man followed two boys to a bathroom inside Halifax Shopping Centre. According to police, the man allegedly forced the children inside a bathroom stall and would not let them leave unless they drank alcohol. Police said the alleged suspect was also seen approaching young girls in the mall’s parkade and attempting to make them drink alcohol. The incident was reported to the police on Friday. HRP said after releasing suspect images around 6 p.m., a tip from the public resulted in an arrest at approximately 7:30 p.m. Police said Mahir Ali Ibrahim, 27, is facing two counts of forcible confinement and two counts of administering a noxious substance. He remains in custody pending a court appearance on Monday. Police said the incident remains under investigation, and further charges may be laid. None of the allegations have been tested in court.
