Woman, 40, dead following collision with transport truck: N.B. RCMP

Aw woman from N.B., died in a collision with a transport truck near Baie-Verte, Friday night.

A woman from Upper Cape, N.B., has died following a two-vehicle collision late Friday night.

RCMP said officers responded to the collision on Route 16 near Baie-Verte, N.B., around 11 p.m. Police said it appears the driver of a vehicle travelling west crossed the centre line and collided with a transport truck travelling east.

The driver of the vehicle, a 40-year-old woman, died at the scene as a result of her injuries. The transport truck driver was not physically injured.

Police said members of the Point Elgin and Pointe Bute fire departments also attended the scene, along with Ambulance New Brunswick, and a member of the coroner’s office.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

Baie-Verte is located south of Port Elgin near the Nova Scotia border.
