Police in Saint John say a recent road sting discovered unlicensed taxi drivers and unsafe taxi cabs operating around the city. The police force, alongside the province’s department of justice and public safety, conducted a two-day enforcement initiative earlier this month focused on compliance amongst city taxi operators. The police force says a total of 31 taxis were inspected. Of that number: The Saint John Police Force says it will continue to conduct regular, targeted traffic enforcement throughout the city. “Taxi operators are reminded that maintaining all required licenses and credentials is essential to legally provide transportation services to the public,” says a statement from the police force. “Motorists are also reminded of their responsibility to keep their vehicles in safe operating condition. Proper vehicle maintenance helps prevent safety risks for drivers, passengers, and all road users.” For more New Brunswick news, visit our dedicated provincial page.
