With summer coming to a close, the weekend weather looks to be anything but sunshine for southern Ontario residents, as Environment Canada have issued a significant rainfall warning including Waterloo Region anticipated over the next couple days. The special weather statement was issued just before 6 p.m. Friday, with rainfall expected to possibly exceed 50 mm from Saturday morning to early Sunday morning. According to the weather unit, some areas may also receive thunderstorms. Additional showers are expected periodically throughout Sunday. Environment Canada urges locals to avoid flooded roadways and low-lying areas during the height of the weekend storms.
