Big jump in solved cases for Windsor and Essex County Crime Stoppers

It’s been a busy year for Windsor-Essex County Crime Stoppers so far this year, with a big jump in solved cases.

Crime Stoppers coordinator Const. Rick Surette says the stats illustrate that it’s been fairly effective year in terms of the community engagement in the community. He says one of the most notable stats is the 96 % increase in cases cleared.

Windsor-Essex Crime Stoppers Stats 2026 YTD:

• 1182 Tips (similar to YTD last year)
• Cases cleared: 84 (last year 43) 95 per cent increase.
• Arrests: 64.
• Charges Laid: 147
• Recovered Stolen Property $12392
• Drugs Seized: $145000
• Weapons Seized: 10

“We don’t receive those tips by way of email, nor do we discover anybody’s internet address or anything like that. So it’s completely anonymous,” says Surette.
