Two shot after group of men rob home-based jewelry business: Winnipeg police

Cameras captured a violent robbery at a Winnipeg home that saw two people get shot and jewelry stolen. CTV’s Joseph Bernacki has more.

Winnipeg police are investigating after two people were shot during an armed robbery at a home-based jewelry business in the Maples neighbourhood a week ago.

According to police, the incident happened on Oct. 9 at 6:30 p.m. on Bachman Bay.

Investigators say a black 2020/2021 Volkswagen Jetta with an unknown licence plate arrived at the home with five people inside. The driver circled the neighbourhood a few times before stopping in front of the home. Police say four people, armed with guns and wearing masks, exited the car, entered the home, shot two people, and stole an undisclosed amount of jewelry.

A 56-year-old man and a 33-year-old man were found with gunshot wounds to their lower bodies. They were taken to hospital for treatment — one in unstable condition and the other in stable condition, according to police.

Police said the Jetta was last seen driving west on Jefferson Avenue near Argate Bay.

A photo of the vehicle was released Friday. The major crimes unit is investigating.
