Popular Winnipeg steakhouse closing its doors

Hermanos Steakhouse is closing at the end of the month after 17 years in business in Winnipeg.

Hermanos Steakhouse on Bannatyne Avenue is set to close its doors at the end of the month, but patrons are told not to fret, as the South American cuisine will live on.

Owner Noel Bernier announced in a social media video Monday that the restaurant will close permanently as of May 29.

“We have the next three weeks to say goodbye to our customers at this location,” Bernier said.

Despite the closure, Bernier said the taste of Hermanos will continue. His son and daughter-in-law are taking the Hermanos brand to Brandon and opening up a steakhouse in the city’s fire hall.

“We’re really proud of them, and I want to spend more time with them, and I want to help them be successful. It’s hard to do that, doing this full-time.”

He also noted his wife has plans to bring a new restaurant to the east Exchange District, which will be a better location for the theatre crowd that frequents the restaurant.

“You can still get your Hermanos steak in Winnipeg,” he said, adding they plan to open the new restaurant by the fall.

Bernier thanked all the customers who have supported them over the years and hopes they will continue to show that support as the new locations start to pop up.

Hermanos will be open from Wednesday to Sunday weekly until its permanent closure on the 29th.
