Jury selection began Monday in Saskatoon Court of King’s Bench for the trial of a woman charged in a 2024 homicide. Chantal McLaren, 35, is charged with accessory after the fact to murder and offering an indignity to human remains, after initially being accused of first degree murder . The charges stem from the death of Lee Perkins, a 25-year-old man from Alberta. On Feb. 3, 2024, Saskatoon police officers were executing a search warrant at a home on Lisgar Avenue when they found Perkins’ body. Police said Edin Vrazalica, 36, tried to run away and was shot by an officer. He was later charged with first-degree murder and offering an indignity to human remains. Vrazalica knew the victim, according to police. A third accused, Dillon Singler, 35, pleaded guilty to manslaughter. A publication ban is in place on evidence presented at McLaren’s trial to protect the fairness of Vrazalica’s trial, scheduled to begin in November. McLaren has been out on bail since May 2024.
