Two rushed to hospital following crash on Perimeter Highway: Winnipeg police

Two people were hospitalized following a rollover on the Perimeter Highway Tuesday morning.

Winnipeg police say a serious motor vehicle crash has closed a section of the Perimeter Highway.

According to a post on X, the crash took place at Highway 330 and the Perimeter Highway. The post said the westbound lanes of the perimeter are closed. According to Manitoba 511, the closure on the perimeter extends between Highways 2 and 3.

Const. Claude Chancy, a public information officer with the Winnipeg Police Service, said according to preliminary information, the crash was a single-vehicle rollover. One person was airlifted to hospital by STARS Air Ambulance in critical condition, while one person was transported to hospital by ambulance.

The cause of the crash is not known at this time.

At 11:37 a.m., the road reopened to traffic, police said on X.

Driver uninjured in unrelated Perimeter Highway rollover

On the north side of the Perimeter Highway, Manitoba RCMP responded to a separate crash near Pipeline Road Tuesday morning.

According to Mounties, a vehicle being driven west on the Perimeter crossed the highway and flipped on its side in the ditch of the opposite lane.

RCMP said the driver, a 54-year-old Winnipeg man, was not injured. The road has since reopened.
