Strike postponed for thousands of Manitoba health-care workers

A strike has been postponed for thousands of Manitoba’s health-care workers.

According to the Manitoba Association of Health Care Professional (MAHCP), which represents 7,000 allied health professionals, a tentative agreement has been reached.

CTV News Winnipeg previously reported that MAHCP members have been without a contract for 11 months.

The union said its members’ main concerns include a staffing crisis, high vacancy rates and the need for stronger hiring incentives.

In the event of a strike, agreements are in place to allow public health workers in the Winnipeg, Churchill, Northern and Shared Health regions to schedule a minimum number of employees to ensure essential services continue.
