What’s open and closed in Ottawa on Victoria Day

More retailers will be allowed to open in Ottawa on Victoria Day this year.

The Ontario government passed legislation to give malls and stores the options to open on Victoria Day and Family Day, starting this year.

All malls in Ottawa and several big box stores will be open on Monday, including Walmart, Home Depot and Rona. The Canadian Tire locations on Heron Road, Ogilvie Road, at Carlingwood Shopping Centre, on Greenbank Road, on Campeau Drive and on Merivale Road will be open.

According to the website, all Costco stores in Ottawa will be closed on Monday.

OC Transpo

• OC Transpo says buses and O-Train Lines 1, 2 and 4 will run on a Sunday schedule on Monday.
• O-Train Line 1 will run from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.
• O-Train Line 2 and 4 will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.
• The Rideau Centre OC Transpo Customer Service Centre will be open on Monday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• Para Transpo regular bookings and recurring trips for Monday are automatically cancelled. Customers can book trips for Victoria Day online using My Para Transpo or by calling 613-560-5000.

Green bin, recycling and garbage collection

• There will be no curbside green bin, recycling or garbage collection on Monday. Pickup will be delayed by one day all week.
• Multi-residential garbage containers will be collected on the regular scheduled day.
• The Trail Waste Facility Landfill will be open on Monday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

City of Ottawa Services

• The City’s 3-1-1 Contact Centre will be open for urgent matters only on Monday
• ServiceOttawa Client Services counters at Ottawa City Hall (110 Laurier Avenue West), Ben Franklin Place (101 Centrepointe Drive), and Orléans (255 Centrum Boulevard) will be closed.
• The Provincial Court and Administrative Penalty System Hearing area located at Mary Pitt Centre (100 Constellation Drive) will be closed.
• The Business Licensing Centre at 735 Industrial Avenue will be closed.
• The City of Ottawa Spay and Neuter Clinic at 26 Concourse Gate will be closed.

Ottawa facilities

• Many community centres and recreation facilities will have altered hours and changes to drop-in schedules. Please check the facility pages on the City of Ottawa’s website for details.
• All municipal child care centres will be closed on Monday.
• All Ottawa Public Library branches will be closed on Victoria Day.
• City-operated museums, the Meridian Theatres at Centrepointe and the Shenkman Arts Centre will be closed on Monday.
• The Barbara Ann Scott Gallery, the Karsh-Masson Gallery and the City Hall Art Gallery will be closed.
• The Site mobile van will operate from 5 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.
• The Ottawa Public Health Sexual Health Clinic will be closed.
• The Ottawa Public Health dental clinics will be closed

Malls

All malls and big box stores are permitted to open on Victoria Day.

• Bayshore Shopping Centre: open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• Billings Bridge Shopping Centre: closed on Monday
• Carlingwood Shopping Centre: open Monday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• Place d’Orleans: open Monday from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• The Rideau Centre will be open on Monday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• St. Laurent Centre: open on Monday from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• Stores at the Tanger Outlets will be open on the holiday.

Grocery stores

• Farm Boy at Rideau Centre will be open on Monday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• Farm Boy stores are open at the following locations: Woodroffe Avenue, Greenbank Road, Terry Fox Drive, Tenth Line Road, Trainyards, Westboro, Metcalfe Street,
• Several Loblaws stores will be open on Monday, including Rideau Street, Isabella Street, McArthur Avenue, Merivale Road, Ogilvie Road, Carling Avenue, Bank Street and Baseline Road.
• Whole Foods Market will be open on Monday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The LCBO says 304 retail stores across Ontario will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 pm. on Monday.

All Beer Store locations in Ottawa and across Ontario will be open on Victoria Day.

The Beer Store says outlets in Ottawa will be open between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Mail delivery

Canada Post says there will be no mail delivery on Victoria Day.

• Canadian Museum of Nature will be open every day this weekend from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., including Victoria Day
• Canada Agriculture and Food Museum will be open all weekend from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., including on Monday.
• Canada Science and Technology Museum will be open Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• Canada Aviation and Space Museum will be open Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• Canadian War Museum will be open all weekend from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., including Monday
