Snow hitting parts of Manitoba today before warmer weather later this week

Springtime snow continues to fall in southern Manitoba on Wednesday.

A low pressure system is bringing the most snowfall to the Parkland region, where a yellow warning for snowfall remains in effect, issued by Environment and Climate Change Canada.

The weather agency said 15 centimetres of snow is expected across the region, with up to 20 centimetres possible in areas of higher terrain.

Most of the snow will fall on Wednesday but could continue into Thursday morning.

Outside the warned region, much less snow is falling intermittently, including in Winnipeg and Brandon, where just two centimetres of snow is forecast.

Snow will taper off Wednesday evening in Brandon, then late tonight in Winnipeg.

Areas closer to the international border could encounter freezing rain Wednesday afternoon or night.

Further east, snow or showers will end Wednesday afternoon before more arrives tonight.

Meanwhile, the sun is shining on much of northern Manitoba on Wednesday.

By Thursday, sunshine will return to Winnipeg and stick around through the weekend into early next week. Temperatures will warm up day by day, peaking at 4 C on Sunday.
