The Government of Canada has approved two requests for federal assistance to support Manitoba’s fight against raging wildfires. In a statement on Thursday, Minister of Emergency Management Eleanor Olszewski said the government will be helping in evacuation efforts in Pimicikamak and Mathias Colomb Cree Nations. The Government Operations Centre is working with the Canadian Armed Forces, as well as other federal and provincial partners, to send all necessary resources and ensure Manitoba has the help it needs. In a post on X, the government said Prime Minister Mark Carney will stay in close contact with Premier Wab Kinew as the situation develops.
