Manitoba’s province-wide state of emergency is scheduled to come to an end on Friday. Earlier in the month, CTV News reported the government extended its state of emergency, which came into effect on July 10 and was scheduled to end on Aug. 22. There’s been no word yet on whether the government plans to extend it again. In Thursday’s fire bulletin, the province said wildfire danger is low for most of the province, with five major fires no longer considered “out of control.” Amid this low fire danger, the Manitoba Wildfire Service will resume issuing burning permits beginning on Friday. Crews continue to respond to 149 active wildfires across Manitoba, bringing the total number of wildfires in 2025 to 417.
