How much rain did your neighbourhood get? A look at rainfall totals in Winnipeg

Central to northeast Winnipeg received the most amount of rain during the storm that ripped through the city Tuesday night.

The City of Winnipeg collected rainfall totals between 3:50 p.m. Tuesday and 4:55 a.m. Wednesday. The Forks has the most rainfall at 117 millimetres, followed closely by the St. Boniface area, which received 113.3 mm.

Not far behind was East Elmwood, which was drenched with 97.7 mm. Also hitting more than 90 mm were the Fort Rouge, Grant Park, River East and Kildonan Park areas, all hovering between 91.1 and 92.7 mm.

Despite those areas receiving the most rain in the city, it was the Munroe West and Rossmere areas that dealt with the most intense rainfall at about 79 mm/hr. St. Boniface wasn’t far behind at 75.4 mm/hr.

Meanwhile, other parts of Winnipeg still got their fair share of water during the thunderstorm.

The area around Kilcona Park was pelted with 85 mm of rain while West Kildonan sat at 83.4 mm.

The downtown core got around 84 mm and Tuxedo received 77.5 mm.

Further out, rain totals ranged from 56.9 mm in Brooklands to 67.7 mm in Southdale.

The one spot that still received some rain but was able to dodge the majority of the wetness was the area around the Brady Road Landfill, which received around 27.6 mm.

Now, following the storm, the city is in cleanup mode. Residents are being told to watch out for downed trees and power lines, as well as flooded roads and underpasses.

People are told to expected traffic delays and are urged not to drive through any flooded roads.
