A 69-year-old woman is dead after being struck by a car in Mill Woods. Officers responded to a crash involving a 2026 Hyundai Kona shortly after midnight Thursday in the area of 50 Street and 23 Avenue. It was reported to police that the Hyundai was travelling westbound on 23 Avenue when it hit a pedestrian crossing 23 Avenue at 50 Street in a crosswalk against the light. EMS responded but the 69-year-old woman died on the scene. A 17-year-old boy driving the Hyundai and three passengers remained on scene and did not report any injuries. Edmonton police’s major collision investigations section has taken over the investigation and is looking for witnesses or dashcam footage from anyone travelling in the area at that time to contact police at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a cell phone. Police do not believe impairment to be a factor.
