Texts, Instagram, and emails are some of the tools the City of Brandon will be using to brace Brandonites for significant weather this winter. The city said, in a media release sent Friday, it has rolled out new ways to keep residents up to date on snow clearing. Information about snow events, clearing and parking bans will be posted on its social media pages and website. The release also said residents can sign up for its text service to be directly sent that information. “The City uses a priority-based system for street clearing, determined by street classification and traffic volume,” the city said. Residents wanting to see exactly where street and sidewalk snow clearing crews are during a snow event were encouraged to use the city’s tracking website.
