Winnipeg Jets release pre-season schedule

The Winnipeg Jets will play four games in September to prepare for the regular season.

The NHL season may have just come to an end, but Winnipeg Jets fans can start marking dates on their calendar for next year.

The team announced their pre-season schedule, which will feature four games against two teams, the Edmonton Oilers and Colorado Avalanche.

Training camp gets underway on Sept. 17, and the first pre-season game will happen in Edmonton on Sept. 19.

The team will have back-to-back games in Winnipeg on Sept. 21 and 22. The first game is against Colorado and the second sees the Oilers in town.

The last tune-up game will be on the road in Colorado on Sept. 25. All games are slated for 7 p.m. starts, except the last one that will go at 7:30 p.m.

A shortened pre-season of just four games is one of the changes the league has made after a new collective bargaining agreement. Teams used to play between six and eight games.

Another change will see the regular season expand from 82 to 84 games.

The regular season is tentatively scheduled to start on Sept. 29; however, the NHL will release the entire regular season schedule next month.
