Body found near Manitoba Hydro dam identified as missing woman: RCMP

The body of a woman who fell through the ice in December 2025 was recovered near Grand Rapids six months later.

The body of a woman who fell through the ice on Cedar Lake at the end of last year was discovered more than five months after she went missing.

On Tuesday, RCMP announced community members found a woman’s body near the south dike of the Manitoba Hydro dam in Grand Rapids, Man.

The Grand Rapids Fire Department came to the scene and identified the individual as a 23-year-old missing woman. CTV News previously reported the identify of the woman as Tasha Ferland.

This update comes over five months after the initial incident on Dec. 16 when two people, including Ferland, were inside a pickup truck that fell through the ice on Cedar Lake, located just north of Lake Winnipegosis.

The pickup truck was discovered by the RCMP’s underwater discovery team on Dec. 17, while the body of Corbin Constant was found on Jan. 6.

An autopsy is pending and Ferland’s next of kin has been notified.
