What should her name be? Assiniboine Park Zoo asking for public’s help to name baby monkey

The Assiniboine Park Zoo needs your help to name its new baby Goeldi monkey.

The Assiniboine Park Zoo is turning to the public to help name one of its newest arrivals.

The baby Goeldi monkey was born on Dec. 18 and recently became visible to the public at the Toucan Ridge.

“We are absolutely smitten with our sweet Goeldi’s monkey baby! She’s growing bigger every day and becoming more independent and curious under the loving watch of her mom and grandmother, Evy and Lea,” the zoo said in a Facebook post.

Now the zoo is looking to name the baby.

People can vote for one of five names that have been chosen by the animal care and veterinary teams.

The potential names are Joy, Holly, Noelle, Kat and Ella.

The zoo said Joy, Holly and Noelle are all nods to the holiday season, since she was born around Christmas.

Kat is short for Saskatoon, which is where mom Evy is from. Lastly, Ella is combination of the baby’s mother’s and grandmother’s names—Evy and Lea.

People can vote for the name online between now and March 22 at 11:59 p.m.

The zoo said the name will be announced at some point next week.
